Prof. Dr. Emine GÜMÜŞSOY
Born in Eskişehir in 1975, Prof. Dr. Emine GÜMÜŞSOY completed her primary, secondary, and high school education in Eskişehir. Having graduated from the Department of History at Eskişehir Osmangazi University in 1996, she received her master's degree in Modern History from the Institute of Social Sciences, Sakarya University, in 1998, and completed her PhD in Modern History at the Institute of Social Sciences at Gazi University in 2006. Between 1997 and 2002, Prof. Dr. GÜMÜŞSOY worked as a Research Assistant in the Department of History, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Eskişehir Osmangazi University. She was subsequently appointed as a Research Assistant at the Institute of Social Sciences at Gazi University to pursue her doctoral studies in accordance with Article 35 of the Higher Education Council. Returning to her position at the Department of History at Eskişehir Osmangazi University in 2007, GÜMÜŞSOY was appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Modern History in 2009, Associate Professor in 2016, and Professor in 2021.
She served as Vice Chair of the department between 2010-2012 and 2018-2020, and as Vice Dean in 2016 and 2020. A member of the Faculty Executive Board from 2019 to 2021, GÜMÜŞSOY has also served on the Executive Board of YUMER (Yunus Emre Research Center), as Deputy Director of ESBALMER (Eskişehir Osmangazi University Balkan Studies Application and Research Center), and as Rector’s Advisor.
On October 6, 2022, Prof. Dr. Emine GÜMÜŞSOY was appointed Founding Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Appointed as Vice Rector on January 8, 2024, she also assumed the position of Acting Dean of the Faculty of Law on February 14, 2024. She serves as the university representative in the Inter-University Council. On August 18, 2026, Prof. Dr. Emine GÜMÜŞSOY was appointed Rector of Eskişehir Osmangazi University.
With national and international academic work on Late Ottoman Social History, Balkan History, and the History of Eskişehir, Prof. Dr. Emine GÜMÜŞSOY is married and has two children.
